This website has come about due to my interest in chicken coops which quickly became a passion. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to raise your own animals, no matter if you live in the country or city, you will know how rewarding it is.

Chickens are the only pet capable of providing you with breakfast. And with that I mean a scrambled egg, fried egg, omelet etc. Don’t write me telling me how much you enjoy eating fresh chicken!

Having fresh eggs is not only a delight it is also a lot healthier, than the commercial battery cages used to produce most of the eggs we get in the store. Your chickens will be much happier as free range chickens than as little egg laying machines.

Chicken coops aren’t hard to build, and when you make them yourself you will be saving a lot of money, with some being built for less than $100. The commercial chicken coops that you can buy start at around $500 and they still require you to assemble them yourself. I have seen them climb up to as much as $2500. Do you know how big of coop you could make for that much money if you would build it yourself?

Let’s just say that your neighborhood wouldn’t be suffering from an egg shortage!

So don’t take all of the fun out of making it yourself and save some money. With basic tools, a little knowledge on how to use them and the right materials you can have your own chicken coop finished over a long weekend.
