Snickerdoodle Christmas Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups (650ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 cups (360ml) white sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) soft shortening
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Directions

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (205 degrees Celsius), mix ingredients, and bake for 10 minutes or until crisp and light brown. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon while hot.

2. An alternative recipe uses only 1 cup (240ml) sugar and replaces 1/2 cup (120ml) of the shortening with butter. After those ingredients are mixed, the dough is rolled into 1 tablespoon balls and then rolled in a mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. They are baked as noted above. Other recipes add honey to the dough, which helps to keep the cookies from becoming too crisp.

Orange Bread Christmas Recipe

Ingredients Step 1

  • 1 cup grated orange peel
  • ½ cup white sugar

Ingredients Step 2

  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
  • 3½ tsp baking powder
  • 2½ cups white all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • ½ tsp salt

Directions

1. Cover grated orange peel with water and boil 5 minutes.
2. Drain and rinse, discarding water.
3. Barely cover with cold water, about ¼ cup.
4. Add ½ cup sugar and cook until peel is tender and water is cooked away; cool.
5. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
6. Mix thoroughly all items under Step 2.
7. Add cooled peel to this mixture and
8. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch pan.
9. Bake 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out dry when inserted in the loaf.

Turkey Biscuit Christmas Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked turkey meat, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 2 tablespoons ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package frozen biscuits

Directions

1. Sauté the onion until tender.
2. Combine in a small bowl the all the ingredients except the cheese and biscuits.
3. Stir this mixture, then place it into a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F.
4. Remove the baked mixture from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese on it. Put a layer of frozen biscuits on top of this. Bake for about 20-30 minutes longer.
